Celebrating Diversity Project
The City of Spruce Grove has partnered with the Spruce Grove and District Agricultural Heritage Society to use a plot in the Community Garden to plant traditional foods from the diets of four different ethnic groups; Latin American, Asian, European and African. Gardeners 65+ are mentoring youth in planting, growing, maintenance, and harvesting of plot #46. A recent graduate from the U of A’s Nutrition and Food Sciences program has volunteered to provide examples of multicultural recipes that can be made with produce from the plot. The community is encouraged to harvest produce and herbs throughout the summer and test out the delicious recipes!
